2x Tourney Winner now... streamed lined the deck a little more.. Still one card used to adjust for your local meta which I will discuss...

I am 11-1 in 2 tourneys so far, with my only loss being to Hyperspace Jump lock deck that no longer exists after May 8th.

The deck plays pretty simple, roll out Poe Dameron then roll out Maz Kanata. Use Maz's ability to resolve 2 dice. If you rolled a natural special on Poe you can resolve it or if you rolled a focus on Maz (55% chance) you can turn one of Poe's dice to a special and resolve. The deck also has guns that can be equipped to Maz to make her an end game threat if opponent is able to take down Poe. If they go after Maz Kanata - Pirate Queen first, just get Maz's Goggles on Poe along with Fast Hands for super strong end game.

The deck is fast and claims a vast majority of the time. New Orders is there, and when you don't have your BF it allows for 2 dice removes that turn. Sabotage is great for the new Villain 0 cost supports as well as C-3PO. Most other cards are obvious, any question feel free to post and I will give my reasoning why I added or didn't add a certain card.

I run 2 Pistols, 1 is still 3 damage with Poe's ability. I use the pistols to equip on Maz for the games when my opponent goes after Poe first. In those games I also try to get a Falcon or U-wing out.

I run Fast Hands for end game after Maz is killed. It is not needed as long as Maz is alive unless you expect your opponent has a way to remove 2 dice at once.

I have main decked Planetary Uprising now, as my current meta has 2nd Chance/Ammo Belts and Mill decks.

I have one last slot which I swap between Sabotage, Spirit of Rebellion, and Disarm.

Very similar to my "There's an Uprising - and I love it deck" save a few minor changes.

Spirit of Rebellion, is it really worth it? How about replacing those for planetary uprising which is such a powerful card mid game after the unavoidable loss of Maz?

Bigulf 821

Planetary Uprising#fla is a good card, but damage isn't what this deck lacks. If opponent goes after Maz Kanata - Pirate Queen first, I go for Maz's Goggles, Fast Hands, and either pistol on Poe Dameron - Ace Pilot. I will play test it more, as I think Planetary Uprising is good in a heavy mill or recurring Second Chance meta where you need that extra damage over survivabilty.

Why aren't you running Emporer's Throne Room? I would have thought that would be a better play for throwing with Poe? Just curious if the defense is that necessary with the battlefield?

Bigulf 821

Emperor's Throne Room - Death Star II isn't needed with Maz Kanata - Pirate Queen as his partner and you equip Maz's Goggles on Poe. There are no issues getting Poe's ability to go off. I purposely chose some cards over others to help streamline the deck to insure you claim the BF, and Frozen Wastes - Starkiller Base is one of the best BFs when you are the one claiming. Thanks for the question.

Deck is strong. S'good.

I get that [New Orders] is a strong card but do you need it at 2 in your deck? Sure consistency is great but you are only really using your battlefield for removal, I would think swapping in a [Loth-Cat and Mouse] or another cheapo weapon would be better

Bigulf 821

Remember, the turn you play New Orders you are getting 2 dice removal. 1 from New Orders, and one from the claim. I believe it is also more important to get certain decks off their battlefield. Worse case is you don't need them and discard for a reroll.

Bigulf 821

Playtesting Disarm because I believe it is very strong in the current meta. Using that 1 to remove an Ammo Belt which is essentially 5 seems good. Obviously there are other strong uses but that one stood out.

Why no Planetary Uprising? It should be pretty strong in a fast deck like this one.

(Should have read the comment above before posting sorry xD)

Bigulf 821

As of right now there are 5 cards that are meta specific in my build, Spirit of Rebellion, Planetary Uprising, Fast Hands, Sabotage, and Disarm.

How come you aren't playing Our Only Hope? I think that card is extremely strong, especially on the off chance you hit Millennium Falcon or U-Wing.

mongon210 1

Or maybe even put in a Second Chance just to keep Maz alive a bit longer?

Bigulf 821

In a version running more high costed supports I could possibly see running Our Only Hope but for a 8/30 chance to save a resource at the cost of an action and a card I don't think it's worth it. Adding a Second Chance that can only be played on Maz and has to be seen/played in the first couple turns seemed too limiting. Where Dug in and Defensive Position are good always and help both characters.

mongon210 1

The odds are a bit better then you think. Since you start with 5 cards, it's really 8/25 depending on what you draw. My only concern with the deck is maz dying too fast and leaving poe by himself. I currently play poe/rey and am thinking on switching to poe/maz, however the only thing that concerns me is losing 2 health to switch to maz and not being fast enough to take out one of their threats before they take out maz. I was thinking of adding more cards with ambush like Holdout Blaster and Unpredictable to action cheat a bit more. Though i haven't played with the deck at all so i guess it's really whether or not you think you've had success killing someone fast enough before they drop maz.

Bigulf 821

Maz, if targeted first, will die. But, with Dug In, Defensive Position, Electroshocks, and Frozen Waste, you are able to keep Maz alive for longer then you would anticipate. In the mean time Poe is doing his thing and your goal is to get Goggles and a Pistol on Poe before Maz dies, that way he is more self sufficient. If they go for Poe, get Pistols on Maz, along with a Falcon, Uwing, or Black One.

I also played Poe/Rey in Awakenings, but prefer this version now.

mongon210 1

I see. So what changes have you made since your wins?

Bigulf 821

It depends on meta, but I am seeing lots of Jyn/Akbar, Palp, Phasma/Bala/Trooper and Hero Mill. Spirit of Rebellion got cut for Planetary Uprising for added damage to push through the Ammo Belts. Still testing Disarm as a viable counter to Ammo Belt spam.

vonbarkstein 1

Ammo Belt for some reason is listed as just an "Upgrade", not "Upgrade - Equipment" so unfortunately Disarm can't remove it, I don't think. If a belt isn't equipment I'm not sure what is, but there it is.

Bigulf 821

Great catch, guess i assumed an Ammo Belt would be equipment. Guess Planetary Uprising is going to have to be the call.

mongon210 1

What decks have you been playing against and what has been your toughest match ups so far?

amustoe 47

My buddy plays this with less supports, and two planetary uprising. This, coupled with Rebel War Room lets you resolve the 3$ dice on Poe and then do 2-4 damage. Its brutal.

bwilly20 1

@Bigulf How are you getting 2 dice removal from new orders?
