I'm posting the deck not for kudos. It's not mine I just drove it. It's mostly because I think people might be curious and I've got a record of it somewhere that I won't delete. Only reason I got anywhere was luck. I spent the whole day baffled. If anything it's a lesson that this game is about dice and luck as much as it is skill sometimes.
I've been playing about with 7th/Boba for a bit. 7th is one of the two elite legendary characters I have, so wanted to use her. My old deck was, frankly, rubbish. I was trying to get things like Vibrocutlass out turn one (doable, but hard) as it was hilarious.
First evening practice for regionals went OK, but not great. It wasn't really working. Then the Miami regional happened and the Turn-1-Maul's-Sabre deck happened and it looked like exactly what I wanted to play, but I stuck to my guns. My second and final evening practice for regionals went terribly. I wasn't enjoying the deck anymore. A mate pulled a Maul's sabre as we were leaving and I decided I was going to take the Miami deck, unpracticed, to regionals off the back of that. Some generous loans of cards later and I had the 10 cards I was missing.
I change about with the deck a bit for my own ends. It's mostly a combo of https://irebeldestiny.com/2018/02/13/introducing-eseventhsister-eboba-a-top-8-miami-regional-report/ and one from the hyperloops discord (i think?) that someone put in our group chat.
And a vibrocutlass, because it's fun. If you're more bothered about winning, swap it for another crossguard or something similar.
Close quarters assault did little for me. I never played the cutlass (sadly), but almost overwrote maul's for the redeploy a couple of times but 7th always died just before I managed it. Frighten was pure value against Obi-Maz. Never needed vandalise but it could have been useful against mill if I faced it.
I went into regionals being happy if I got two wins, having to borrow a (gorgeous) phasma playmat as I didn't own a mat at all. I ended up 5-2 in Swiss, losing to Scott (Sabine/Ezra, 1st) and Ryan (Obi/Maz, top 4). I faced Sabine/Ezra, two Poe/Hondo, Boba/Phasma, Obi/Maz, and two decks I can't remember for the life of me.
Top 8 game was fun. Obi/Maz again. First game I just ground through the shields. Second I just got ridiculously lucky and took Obi-wan off turn 1 with just a vibroknife (two force throws and really good rolls).
Top 4 was just Sabine/Ezra doing the zero-fun stuff it does.
Great opponents all day, really enjoyed it.
Thanks to the Tampa guys (I think?) for making and posting the deck. It's really fun to play (and hopefully play against!0

How did you like the Makashi Trainings? |
I really support the lack of seeker droids, I dont run them either. How do you feel Frighten plays vs Intimidate? I've been leaing Intimidate lately since I see Caution stopping me from rolling out Maul's Lightsaber |

Hey man it was good to meet you the other day you were a great opponent I agree on fitting in shotos and ancients as they put in so much work! Also I’m a big advocate of vibrocutlass, whenever I’ve got it out it’s been ace |
No that it matters but it was a Miami regional. We had messed around with seeker droids out and force focus/cross guard in to really mess around with Boba but we ended up liking the seekers for focus and disrupt. Grats on top 4. I think this deck is pretty on par with Obi Maz in power level so maybe in the future there will be one or two cards that can get it into the Sabine stratosphere. It's not weak against it but I would definitely say Sabine wins more consistently. Deck is close and it is awesome to have a competitive Boba ont he field. |
I've generally had no issues with ObiMaz with it. Frighten did a lot for me. I lost One of the 4 ObiMaz games (we played a 3rd in top 8 as we didn't want to sit around for ages doing nothing, and the second game was just my dice playing nice for me) and that was due to a misplay by me that meant Obi survived, and him capitalising on that and playing perfectly from there on out (my favourite game of the day). It's definitely on a par. Sabine is broken as is, and an NPE for me. |
Yeah Sabine is broke when a good pilot is behind it. I'm trying to see if Lure can mess up her tempo. I think this deck will continue to get tuned and get better. I only played a few games with it the week before the regional like you so there has to be room for improved play. I think I did well because I focused on prepping Bobs for the end game. Congrats again! I think I'm going back to heroes (my favorite) but I expect this deck to continue to make noise. |

Just had a thought, have you considered cunning as another way to get off the boba special? Can also be used to get your opponents specials which could be nice with all the yoda and hondos running around |

I have a youtube channel and would love to feature this deck in a video! Can you please provide your name and who anyone who may have assisted with making this deck so I can reference it in the video! thanks so much! |
|
"iosefward' you made it to the top 4 and we already did a video. You earned it bud. Everything is % chance (luck) you did great shaping that part of the game in your regional. Don't underestimate what you did. Congrats |

Thank you very much gentlemen! I will post a link here once the video is up! Take care and keep playing SWD! |
posting my variation here for others to look at more lists. Really wanna see this list pick up popularity, Boba with lightsabers has been my favorite thing since a kid |
I'm amazed that this works without the Seeker droids. looks like a lot of fun.
