Hello,
I used tbis list to win the store championship at Game Cafe in Independence Missouri on July 1st.
The theory us simple, strap weapons onto padawans, roll in and deal lots if damage with lots of dice.
I chose younglings, because or Rey's ability to action chain, and the padawan's great die.
One thing I found while trying to make a hero deck that works, is that most of their control cards require you to have dice already in the pool. Rey helps a lot with this since you can attach an ambush upgrade onto her, roll in and play a control event all before your opponent can resolve their dice
please check put my podcast Twisted Rancor Trio to hear more of my thoughts on the list in episode 4. available on sound cloud and itunes.

I'm at work right now, but I'll type up a round by round at 5. |
I would definitely consider running Destiny in this deck - and every blue hero deck for that matter. It's arguably the best card in the entire game, allowing you to trade dead dice for a free upgrade. The pressure of being able to play a second or third upgrade in round 1 really is unmatched. I'd also use High Ground over Flank. Not only does it deal 1 damage when resolved, it seems better suited in such a fast deck. With the deck's speed, you'll likely be exhausting your characters faster than your opponent, making Flank's activation requirement a little hit and miss, whereas your speed means that you'll claim the battlefield almost every round, making High Ground more versatile. Finally, why use Lightsaber over Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber? The latter is better in every possible respect, outside of Redeploy, but including a card in your deck under the assumption that your characters are going to die isn't really the right thought process. ^_^' |
I don't mean any blatant disrespect, but it would be best to completely ignore
To the deck's author: congrats on your win! how often were you able to CQA people? |
We played 4 rounds with a cut to top 4. Round 1 Win: I played against a Phasma, FN, FO Stormtrooper all single die piloted by a guy who was brand new to the game. He was a great opponent, but the game was not close and I handily won. Round 2 Win: I played against Elite Palpatine, Vibroknife can be a real issue for Palpatine as it negates all of his damage prevention leaving him hoping he draws rise again fast enough. He did not and the game was quickly decided Round 3 Win: I played against Poe Maz piloted by my best friend and playtesting buddy, unfortunately for him he didn't see any thermal detonators and I saw both cautions which are an amazing life saver in this matchup. Round 4 Loss: I played against FN, Unkar, Royal Guard all single die. He was able to roll hot with FN's ability and saw both riot batons before I defeated FN. The game was close down to the guard vs a padawan, but the guard was able to win it out after my opponent wisely claimed early the previous round to deny me control options. I made it into top cut 3rd seed. Round 1 of Cut Win: I played against a Vader Guard list very similar to Zach Bunn's list, luckily for me i was able to control vader's dice and eek out just enough damage for a win. I go for the guard first in this matchup, since once vader kills a padawan, it can be much more difficult to see a black side. Round 2 of cut Win: I played against Esnap, padme, Maz. I targeted Padme first knowing that she was his win condition, and was able to defeat her before he saw a second chance. After that I targeted snap and then Maz, who strapped with second chances, did not have any valuable dice to resolve. Overall the day went great, I feel like I played against some meta heavy lists, and have since played many smaller tournaments and found the deck to be consistant. |
Destiny: I use Caution as my remove a die to gain benefit card, and I mainly use it on blanks or Rey's +2 resource side when I don't have a black resource side. I don't want to play too many remove my dice effects, and find that I rarely have an issue in playing all my upgrades in hand each turn. High Ground Requires that I control the battlefield, a decision that my opponent can remove from me, especially if I'm using my control events. Flank on the other hand requires I have more ready characters than my opponent which is completely in my control. The deck can play fast when it draws an ambush upgrade, but many times I am using my actions to play upgrades and roll in one character at a time, which can be slow. Overall I would rather be in control of the conditions needed by my conditional removal. I chose Lightsaber because it has redeploy, I do not like the die or that it cost 3, but I would much rather have a 1 cost lightsaber redeploy than see my Rey's Staff go in the discard pile and suddenly be short 2 dice. Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber is a fine card but it only offers 1 more damage on the modified side, and the option for shields on the special. I find that the redeploy of the generic lightsaber is much more valuable than these benefits. 7 Health characters will die, unless I draw all the right cards at the right time. You need to be prepared for the worst, as long as it doesn't consistently bring you bad games. |
I am interested in the reasoning behind not including One With the Force in this deck. I can see pros and cons. |

I agree that Destiny is not correct for this deck variant on Yonglings. However, this upgrade set is highly vulnerable to imperial inspection and thus meta dependent (which I see was in the matchups list but single die Unkar not as potent with II). An alternate with lightbows and OWTF would be a better fit with Destiny I think. |
Congrats on your win! We were thinking of featuring this list on thehyperloops.com weekly article series on SC winners. Would you like to share your name or innitials? Thanks! |
Yeah, it's Rand Anderson. I play in the Kansas City metro. Let me know of you have any other questions, if be happy to answer all of them. |
What did you play against?
