My version of Vader/Raider, won store championship nearly undefeated. Opted for big sticks and fast hands as opposed to the standard holocron suite. Keep an eye here for detailed matchup results.

I tried a no Holocron build in a store championship this past Saturday and went 1-3. How much did Gaffi Stick help you? I wanted to put a couple in my deck but I didn't own any. I felt like people were sleeping on that card.

@razor089 Honestly the Gaffi was not a huge deal in this tourney; I can think of one game off the top of my head where it helped me swing for a few damage, but in most games it actually ended up getting pitched for a reroll or to cheat my #Force Illusion or #Force Strike back to my hand. I'm actually considering removing one for a second Force Illusion.

The question is what are you removing with Gaffi Stick's special? Tusken has 1 side you want to remove, and Vader's already do 2 or 3 damage. Lightsabers are also full of 2s and 3s. Makashi has 1 1, Vibro has 2 1. So for the at a value of ~1 most of the time, that makes 5 total damage on a 2-cost upgrade, which is about average...but then it has that 2/R side which I don't feel good about either.

I personally cut Gaffi and replaced with Force Speed; the interaction with Fast Hands is just brutal. Half the time you roll Vader out and immediately gain 2 more actions.

I do think you should find room for the 2nd Force Illusion it's pretty solid.

What are you Cheating for that is so important you should pay a resource just to get it? I feel like that slot must have a better use; unless it enables a broken combo, it just isn't worth paying 1 to swap two cards. If you have cards you frequently want to chuck to get others back, it probably means you should instead cut them and play something better.

I think force strike is worth the cheat generally, but you'd never do it in the same turn you'd play it, more of a set up for later turns. '4' copies of force strike with vader is usually worth.

@Blackcraft Absolutely right. Force Strike is the number one target for Cheat, with occasional Lightsaber Throws or Force Illusion taking target priority.

@Foz The primary Cheat target is generally Force Strike, which in this deck I do find worth it. Gaffi Stick serves two primary purposes: one is for its redeploy. It's an upgrade I'm comfortable putting on an injured Vader or an early game Tusken when light sabers aren't available. The second purpose is of course the special; you say there isn't much to use it on but I personally use it as an insurance policy; say I really had to burn resources to get out a Vibroknife or a Kylo Ren's Lightsaber, I might be broke and sitting on a Saber or Tusken 3 for 1. The Gaffi special allows me to resolve those , essentially, without a resource and keep the same level of damage pushed through.

Think of Cheat as an added cost to play Force Strike, and you'll realize why it's bad. You're basically paying 2, 2 actions, and -1 card in hand to play that 3rd or 4th Force Strike. I like the card, but it absolutely is not worth that price. Cheat is wildly inefficient for any use but the most broken combo recursion.
