I used to wonder about that myself. Thought it was a bunch of mumbo-jumbo. A magical power holding together good and evil, the dark side and the light. Crazy thing is... it's true. The Force. The Jedi... All of it... It's all true.

After being inspired from seeing han/rey perform well at tulsa's destiny weekend I was inspired to give my favorite character combination another shot in the new vibroknife filled meta. Was able to take a 20 person event at Coolstuff Games Waterford with this version of Han Rey and went 7-1. My idea for a twist on han rey was a deck centered around light saber (also inspiration came after listening to The Destiny Council Podcast). Light saber really does everything you want in this deck I find. Firstly it's more melee damage for rey and knife. Secondly, It's redeploy which is always great. Third, all the sides are valuable at all stages of the game as I am playing two copies of guard which really payed off. Finally, throne room is really popular between Poe and Baby Vader and it gives my deck a powerful special to use with that if I don't win the battle field.

Game 1: Grievous Bala

Was able to burst grievous down quickly losing Rey then was able to grind out bala with Han and second chance etc.

Record 1-0

Game 2: Kylo Vader

Was able to burn down vader fairly quickly but kylo got very built up and I wasn't able to find enough damage on my dice to close it out.

Record 1-1

Game 3: Rey Churrit

Everything went really smoothly this game. Found all my cheats and rolled well. Killed the opposing rey in round two and was able to control Churrits nastiest dice and find the lethal damage.

Record 2-1

Game 4: Obi-wan Rey

This was a grind of a game that I am very surprised I was able to win. Traded Reys fairly quickly and burned my whole to stay in the game though I was able to loop second chance/ammo belt/heavy blaster for a very long time and eventually found the god roll I needed to finish the game before running out of health.

Record 3-1

Game 5: Qui-gon Rey

This was a brawl. Qui-gon and Han went down very quickly leaving us with a good old fashioned Rey off. Fortunately mine was a bit more built up and some dice variance went my way and I was able to kill his Rey more quickly. The extra removal I brought really paying off here. Also the variety of unblockable damage between vibroknife and lightsaber special making a big difference as my opponent was packing force illusions.

Record 4-1

Elimination Game 1: Vader Guard

This was probably my biggest luck sack game of the night. Just everything from my opening hand to my dice came up my way and was able to kill Vader incredibly quickly despite my opponent playing rise again.

Record 5-1

Elimination Game 2: Kylo Vader

This was a different kylo vader deck but went similarly except I got a very good start. Had a big moment when fast hands Han was able to spike his roll to kill vader removing his two dice that would kill rey. This one ended up being very close I was nearly completely milled out with a second chance ammo belt + lightsaber on han. Was able to close it out by claiming my opponents throne room to use the special on lightsaber for lethal damage.

Record 6-1

Elimination Game 3: Palpatine

This was definitely the matchup I wanted to have all night. I have lots of removal that is best on small but potent dice pools and shields to feed to palps ability. I was able to keep palps dice controlled for most of the game and ramp my chars nicely. My opponent did make a scary move for premonitions+rise again+premonitions in one round but I was able to fight through the mind probe as my opponent only had 3 dice still.

Record 7-1

Thoughts going forward:

I'm 50/50 on maybe cutting Force Speeds. They were great in my opening hand but that's really the only time I want to see them. Later into the game my rey's slots are either full of knife or redeploy or rey is dead and they are blank. Cards I am definitely looking at are Hold On!, Improvisation, One With The Force, Jedi Robes, High Ground. There is just so many awesome cards for this character combination now.

How do You do with this deck against Poe Maz ?

Oh_Em_Ve 32

@michaelius haven't played the matchup directly yet but my thought when building this was hoping to have a chance against Poe and especially palp.

Lots of removal that's very effective against small dice pools (negotiate, heavy blaster, loth cat, guard). Also repeatable shields are very welcome against Poe and the aoe damage he brings. Additionally, you have the potential to win the battle field against that deck if you get speed, infamous and fast hands working for you.

What about using that battlefield that lets you put second chance on Rey?

Oh_Em_Ve 32

@DArk VEnganceThis is definitely an interesting thought. I was almost put in a situation in one of the games where that field was going to be used but I talked myself out it. I think it's a field you wouldn't be too sad to see if your opponent won initiative and chose to go there. Could also move force speed over to han if she is about to go down.

That said, I don't think graveyard is ever worth not taking if you can help it I think. It just does so much between looping ambush upgrades early on, allowing you to discard more without worrying about losing important pieces and of course playing second chance or ammo belt as many times as needed in the late game.
