Deck I used in the Vancouver BC Prime. I had been tinkering with Aphra prior to Worlds and made some changes post Worlds to get it to the list I used for this event. Big thanks to NJCuenca from loops for letting me bounce ideas off him, Daaneskold for all the practice reps every week, Zheraj for bringing me into this game and always being awesome, and Krez for the advice and dice blessing.

Tournament report: 16 players, 5 rounds of Swiss, cut to top 4.

Swiss: R1: e4Lom/eGG3/SM LOSS

My opponent played incredibly solidly. Rolled well, made good use of mitigation. My droids got DM’d round 1 leaving me behind rampwise.

R2: eGG3/SM/SBD/AR WIN

My opponent from top cut at last year’s regional. They did not have any cards from Spark of Hope but still made a solid showing overall. He AR’d Grievous’ Wheelbike which was immediately DMd

R3:eChopper/3PO/R2/FC WIN

Got my droids out early. Managed to deal a lot of damage via 0-0-0, finished the job with Megablasters.

R4: eRey3/eKylo3/TT WIN

Kyle went down first, put down an early Delve/Fist.

R5: eChopper/3PO/R2/FC WIN

Had the dream opener. Started out with 0-0-0, then delved twice for a Fist and Megablasters. My opponent didn’t have many options after that.

Semis:

ePalp/eWatto 1-2

Solid play from my opponent. I made a massive misplay in my first game. After reviewing deck lists I misremembered the number of Fatal Blows in his deck and thought he was only on one. I played into the second one and he won handily. For the second game I made good use of Aphra’s ability to dig through my deck and find the one Mind Extraction in my deck. Waited until he activated to get an extra round. At this point Watto was down and Palp was at full health. I had to make those rounds count to be able to finish the job. Final game had me getting ME in my opener. He resolved a discard and hit a 1 in 3 chance to discard my ME. Suddenly this meant that I’d have to outplay him at every occasion. Not willing to make the same mistake as the first game again I made sure to never give him the chance to Bacta or Fatal Blow. Fist’s disrupt sides did work as did Crash landing to remove Palp’s character dice.

Finals: e3PO/Han4/R2 FC 1-2

Washington vs Washington. Always great to see and play with the Dice of Failure folk. (Give them a listen at https://diceoffailure.podbean.com/).

First game Zach had me the entire time. Made excellent use of R2’s disrupt with 3PO to impede my ramp. It was no contest.

Game 2 had a pretty equal ramp overall. Managed to disrupt me early on but I managed to get back. Was able to play Delve/Fist and keep the pressure on to defeat 3PO, then R2, then Han.

Game 3 was very close. He ramped hard early on. I held on with 0-0-0 and delved out a fist. He had me on the ropes the entire time but after a day of playing both us were just exhausted. We both missed triggers and had several misplays that easily could’ve swung the game in either direction. At the end of the day Fist does what Fist does and brought it home.

All in all I had a ton of fun and look forward to going to Worlds again next year.
