Dice of Failure 822
Made some small adjustments to this deck after a fair bit of playtesting.
The core of the deck is still in tact: use Tobias Beckett - Thief For Hire and "Mauler" Mithel - Vader's Wingman for reliable resources/ranged damage, with Armored Reinforcement to tutor for TIE Fighters, playing 3-4 of them round one, hopefully pumping out damage faster than an opponent can deal with.
While I did want to future-proof this deck by making it mostly trilogies, I also was really hampering myself by using Deployment over Deploy Squadron. So I caved and swapped those. The core of the deck (TIE Fighters, Beckett, Mauler) is still future-proof, so I'm still in good shape.
Removal of Skyhopper was a must. Consistency in mods was nice, but the dice on Triple Laser Turret are wasted on a card without them. Plus, I've stumbled across a new, niche strategy I busted out in a tournament to incredible results.
A lot of things have to happen to make this work, so this is a plan C if anything, but it's a really strong Plan C. It goes like this: if I start my hand with a Mod, and then I get the battlefield, instead of using Armored Reinforcement to start the TIE Fighter Train, I instead use it to play the Firespray-31 for only two resources (combined with Weapons Factory Alpha - Cymoon 1). Then, Power Action to play a mod for free.
At that point, I've played six resources worth of powerful vehicles for the low-low cost of two resources. If the mod i start with is Triple Laser Turret, then I even add some removal resistance, after getting two dice out with four damage sides each.
To that end, I've pulled out General Grievous' Wheel Bike, and in place of that and the T-16 Skyhopper, and added in two Arc Casters. That increases the odds of starting with a mod and getting out this gross combo early.
Again, Plan A is still fire 4 TIE Fighters out of this 20-health glass cannon and wreck, and that plan works really well so far, but I've discovered some pretty good alternatives and tweaks.

I've started with Black Two before rather than Tie Fighters. This is an alternative if you start with a TIE Fighter in your hand. That said, I'm not sure how strong it is without a triple laser turret, and it loses its power once Mauler dies which can happen quickly. Don't get me wrong. It's really strong, I'd just rather do the turn-off Firespray play or the TIE Fighter chain. If you can get this our round two while having 3-4 TIE Fighters, it's unstoppable! |
Have you tried shakedown in this deck? |

You're welcome! |
What kind of priority do you put on getting black 2?
